Irai

Crueller than economic bondage is the bondage of that inner solitude in which one lives without knowing who one is, believing the images society has sculpted for one to be real. Often, the betrayal a person inflicts upon themselves through a lack of awareness is far greater than the hunts taking place in the world outside. This novella is a question about the ‘existence’ of people who, losing their identities in this way and donning masks, destroy themselves over time. Rather than searching the outside world for the hunter, this ‘Irai’ is a journey towards that fine edge where we begin to ask when and how we become prey to ourselves.
